A Palace near Sirkap, Taxila
From Sirkap
This palace (or a monastery) is located 1 KM. south of the ancient Greek city of Sirkap on top of a small hillock. There is a large Stupa outside (Pic. 2) and the palace is constructed on the same pattern that we see at Jaulian Monastery and also at Mohra Murado Monastery. This is why I am not too sure whether it’s a palace or a monastery? The outer wall of this place is made of larger stones (Pic. 4) and the front gate is opposite to the Stupa. Inside we have chambers on all four sides a pool of water at the center perhaps for ritual washing. Unlike Sirkap this place is not maintained at all and completely abandoned.
