My interview with Pervaiz Alam.
This interview with was recorded on 2 June, 2019, as part of Cine Ink’s coverage of the Khushwant Singh Literary Festival at King’s College in London.
A Hindustani Affair in the Digital Times, Cine Ink is a London-based digital media portal specialising in Hindi and Urdu content, launched by Pervaiz Alam and Achala Sharma, former broadcasters with the BBC.
During our conversation, I mentioned some critical issues, much severe than sabre-rattling, staring at both countries, India and Pakistan, climate change and water shortages being two of them.
We also talked about the day when I narrowly survived an assassination attempt that claimed the life of my driver in the city of Lahore. I was attacked by a group of assailants reportedly members of the Taliban-affiliate, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi for my anti-extremism views.
On the issue of peace between the two countries, my take was that ideals aside, only Pakistan Army and India’s Right-wing are capable of giving their consent to a resolution of the conflict between India and Pakistan.
